23 So Solomon sat(A) on the throne(B) of the Lord as king in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him. 24 All the officers and warriors, as well as all of King David’s sons,(C) pledged their submission to King Solomon.

25 The Lord highly exalted(D) Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him royal splendor(E) such as no king over Israel ever had before.(F)

The Death of David(G)

26 David son of Jesse was king(H) over all Israel.(I) 27 He ruled over Israel forty years—seven in Hebron(J) and thirty-three in Jerusalem.(K) 28 He died(L) at a good old age, having enjoyed long life, wealth and honor. His son Solomon succeeded him as king.(M)

29 As for the events of King David’s reign, from beginning to end, they are written in the records of Samuel the seer,(N) the records of Nathan(O) the prophet and the records of Gad(P) the seer, 30 together with the details of his reign and power, and the circumstances that surrounded him and Israel and the kingdoms of all the other lands.

23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

25 And the Lord magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

26 Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.

27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.

28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,

30 With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
