The King of Glory

A Psalm of David.

24 ^(A)The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,^[a]
the world and those who dwell therein,
²for he has ^(B)founded it upon ^(C)the seas
and established it upon the rivers.

³^(D)Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
    And who shall stand in his ^(E)holy place?
⁴^(F)He who has ^(G)clean hands and ^(H)a pure heart,
    who does not ^(I)lift up his soul to ^(J)what is false
    and does not swear deceitfully.
⁵He will receive ^(K)blessing from the Lord
    and ^(L)righteousness from ^(M)the God of his salvation.
⁶Such is ^(N)the generation of those who seek him,
    who ^(O)seek the face of the God of Jacob.^[b] Selah

⁷^(P)Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
    that ^(Q)the King of glory may come in.
⁸Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord, strong and mighty,
    the Lord, ^(R)mighty in battle!
⁹Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And lift them up, O ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
¹⁰Who is this King of glory?
    ^(S)The Lord of hosts,
    he is the King of glory! Selah

Teach Me Your Paths

25 To you, O Lord, I ^(T)lift up my soul.
²O my God, in you I ^(U)trust;
    ^(V)let me not be put to shame;
    ^(W)let not my enemies exult over me.
³Indeed, ^(X)none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
    they shall be ashamed who are ^(Y)wantonly ^(Z)treacherous.

⁴^(AA)Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
⁵Lead me in your ^(AB)truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.

⁶Remember your ^(AC)mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
    ^(AD)for they have been from of old.
⁷Remember not ^(AE)the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your ^(AF)steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!

⁸^(AG)Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he ^(AH)instructs sinners in the way.
⁹He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.
¹⁰All the paths of the Lord are ^(AI)steadfast love and faithfulness,
    for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

¹¹For your ^(AJ)name's sake, O Lord,
    pardon my guilt, for it is ^(AK)great.
¹²Who is the man who fears the Lord?
    Him ^(AL)will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
¹³His soul shall ^(AM)abide in well-being,
    and his ^(AN)offspring ^(AO)shall inherit the land.
¹⁴^(AP)The friendship^[d] of the Lord is for those who fear him,
    and he makes known to them his covenant.
¹⁵My ^(AQ)eyes are ever toward the Lord,
    for he will ^(AR)pluck my feet out of the net.

¹⁶^(AS)Turn to me and be gracious to me,
    for I am lonely and afflicted.
¹⁷The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
    bring me out of my distresses.
¹⁸^(AT)Consider my affliction and my trouble,
    and forgive all my sins.

¹⁹Consider how many are my foes,
    and with what violent hatred they hate me.
²⁰Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me!
    ^(AU)Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
²¹May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
    for I wait for you.

²²^(AV)Redeem Israel, O God,
out of all his troubles.

26 ^(AW)Vindicate me, O Lord,
    for I have ^(AX)walked in my integrity,
    and I have ^(AY)trusted in the Lord without wavering.
²^(AZ)Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
    test my heart and ^(BA)my mind.^[e]
³For your ^(BB)steadfast love is before my eyes,
    and I ^(BC)walk in your ^(BD)faithfulness.

⁴I do not ^(BE)sit with men of ^(BF)falsehood,
nor do I consort with hypocrites.
⁵I ^(BG)hate the assembly of evildoers,
and I will not sit with the wicked.

⁶I ^(BH)wash my hands in innocence
and go around your altar, O Lord,
⁷proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,
and telling all your ^(BI)wondrous deeds.

⁸O Lord, I ^(BJ)love the habitation of your house
    and the place where your glory dwells.
⁹^(BK)Do not sweep my soul away with sinners,
    nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
¹⁰in whose hands are evil devices,
    and whose right hands are full of ^(BL)bribes.

¹¹But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
¹²My foot stands on ^(BM)level ground;
in ^(BN)the great assembly I will bless the Lord.

I and the Father Are One

²²At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter, ²³and Jesus was walking in the temple, ^(A)in the colonnade of Solomon. ²⁴So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are ^(B)the Christ, ^(C)tell us plainly.” ²⁵Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. ^(D)The works that I do ^(E)in my Father's name bear witness about me, ²⁶but ^(F)you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. ²⁷^(G)My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. ²⁸^(H)I give them eternal life, and ^(I)they will never perish, and ^(J)no one will snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹My Father, ^(K)who has given them to me,^[a] ^(L)is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of ^(M)the Father's hand. ³⁰^(N)I and the Father are one.”

³¹^(O)The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. ³²Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” ³³The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but ^(P)for blasphemy, because you, being a man, ^(Q)make yourself God.” ³⁴Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in ^(R)your Law, ^(S)‘I said, you are gods’? ³⁵If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be ^(T)broken— ³⁶do you say of him whom ^(U)the Father consecrated and ^(V)sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because ^(W)I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? ³⁷^(X)If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; ³⁸but if I do them, ^(Y)even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that ^(Z)the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” ³⁹^(AA)Again they sought to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands.

⁴⁰He went away again across the Jordan to the place ^(AB)where John had been baptizing at first, and there he remained. ⁴¹And many came to him. And they said, “John did no sign, but ^(AC)everything that John said about this man was true.” ⁴²And ^(AD)many believed in him there.
