Psalm 37:5-17

New International Version

⁵ Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him^(A) and he will do this:
⁶ He will make your righteous reward^(B) shine like the dawn,^(C)
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

⁷ Be still^(D) before the Lord
    and wait patiently^(E) for him;
do not fret^(F) when people succeed in their ways,^(G)
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.^(H)

⁸ Refrain from anger^(I) and turn from wrath;
    do not fret^(J)—it leads only to evil.
⁹ For those who are evil will be destroyed,^(K)
    but those who hope^(L) in the Lord will inherit the land.^(M)

¹⁰ A little while, and the wicked will be no more;^(N)
    though you look for them, they will not be found.
¹¹ But the meek will inherit the land^(O)
    and enjoy peace and prosperity.^(P)

¹² The wicked plot^(Q) against the righteous
    and gnash their teeth^(R) at them;
¹³ but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
    for he knows their day is coming.^(S)

¹⁴ The wicked draw the sword^(T)
    and bend the bow^(U)
to bring down the poor and needy,^(V)
    to slay those whose ways are upright.
¹⁵ But their swords will pierce their own hearts,^(W)
    and their bows will be broken.^(X)

¹⁶ Better the little that the righteous have
    than the wealth^(Y) of many wicked;
¹⁷ for the power of the wicked will be broken,^(Z)
    but the Lord upholds^(AA) the righteous.
