Psalm 67-78

⁵ A ^(V)father of the fatherless and a ^(W)judge ^[h]for the widows,
Is God in His ^(X)holy dwelling.
⁶ God ^[i](Y)makes a home for the lonely;
He ^(Z)leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only ^(AA)the rebellious live in parched lands.

⁷ God, when You ^(AB)went forth before Your people,
When You ^(AC)marched through the desert, Selah
⁸ The ^(AD)earth quaked;
The ^(AE)heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
^[j](AF)Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
⁹ You ^(AG)made plentiful rain fall, God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was ^[k]parched.
¹⁰ Your creatures settled in it;
In Your kindness You ^(AH)provided for the poor, God.

¹¹ The Lord gives the ^[l]command;
The ^(AI)women who proclaim good news are a great army:
¹² “^(AJ)Kings of armies flee, they flee,
And she who remains at home will ^(AK)divide the spoils!”
^13 [m]When you lie down ^(AL)among the sheepfolds,
You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver,
And its pinions with ^[n]glistening gold.
¹⁴ When the Almighty ^(AM)scattered the kings ^[o]there,
It was snowing in ^(AN)Zalmon.

^15 (AO)The mountain of Bashan is a ^[p]mountain of God;
The mountain of Bashan is a mountain of many peaks.
¹⁶ Why do you look with envy, you mountains of many peaks,
At the mountain God has ^(AP)desired as His dwelling?
Indeed, ^(AQ)the Lord will dwell there forever.
¹⁷ The ^(AR)chariots of God are ^[q]myriads, ^(AS)thousands upon thousands;
^[r]The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.
¹⁸ You have ^(AT)ascended on high, You have ^(AU)led captive Your captives;
You have received gifts among people,
Even among the rebellious as well, that ^[s]the Lord God may dwell there.

¹⁹ Blessed be the Lord, who daily ^(AV)bears our burden,
^(AW)The God who is our salvation. Selah
²⁰ God is to us a ^(AX)God of salvation;
And ^(AY)to ^[t]God the Lord belong ways of escape ^[u]from death.
²¹ God certainly will ^(AZ)shatter the heads of His enemies,
The hairy ^[v]head of one who goes about in his guilt.
²² The Lord ^[w]said, “^(BA)I will bring them back from Bashan.
I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
²³ So that ^[x](BB)your foot may shatter them in blood,
And the tongue of your ^(BC)dogs may have its portion from your enemies.”

²⁴ They have seen ^(BD)Your procession, God,
The procession of my God, my King, ^[y](BE)into the sanctuary.
²⁵ The ^(BF)singers went on, the musicians after them,
^[z]In the midst of the ^(BG)young women beating tambourines.
^26 (BH)Bless God in the congregations,
Even the Lord, you who are of the ^(BI)fountain of Israel.
^27 (BJ)Benjamin, the ^[aa]youngest, is there, ^[ab]ruling them,
The leaders of Judah in their company,
The leaders of ^(BK)Zebulun, the leaders of Naphtali.

^28 [ac]Your God has ^(BL)commanded your strength;
Show Yourself strong, God, You ^(BM)who acted ^[ad]in our behalf.
^29 [ae]Because of Your temple at Jerusalem
^(BN)Kings will bring gifts to You.
³⁰ Rebuke the ^(BO)animals ^[af]in the reeds,
The herd of ^(BP)bulls with the calves of the peoples,
Trampling the pieces of silver;
He has ^(BQ)scattered the peoples who delight in war.
^31 [ag]Messengers will come from ^(BR)Egypt;
^[ah](BS)Cush will quickly stretch out her hands to God.

³² Sing to God, you ^(BT)kingdoms of the earth,
^(BU)Sing praises to the Lord, Selah
³³ To Him who ^(BV)rides upon the ^[ai](BW)highest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, ^(BX)He ^[aj]speaks with His voice, a ^(BY)mighty voice.
^34 (BZ)Ascribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel,
And ^(CA)His strength is in the ^[ak]skies.
^35 [al]God, You are ^(CB)awesome from Your ^[am]sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself ^(CC)gives strength and power to the people.
^(CD)Blessed be God!

⁵ God, You know ^(CM)my foolishness,
And ^(CN)my guilt is not hidden from You.
⁶ May those who wait for You not ^(CO)be ashamed because of me, Lord ^[ar]God of armies;
May those who seek You not be dishonored because of me, God of Israel,
⁷ Because ^(CP)for Your sake I have endured disgrace;
^(CQ)Dishonor has covered my face.
⁸ I have become ^(CR)estranged ^[as]from my brothers,
And a stranger to my mother’s sons.
⁹ For ^(CS)zeal for Your house has consumed me,
And ^(CT)the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me.
¹⁰ When I wept ^(CU)in my soul with fasting,
It became my ^(CV)disgrace.
¹¹ When I made ^(CW)sackcloth my clothing,
I became ^(CX)a proverb to them.
¹² Those who ^(CY)sit in the gate talk about me,
And ^(CZ)songs of mockery by those habitually drunk are about me.

¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, ^(DA)at an acceptable time;
God, in the ^(DB)greatness of Your mercy,
Answer me with ^[at]Your saving truth.
¹⁴ Rescue me from the ^(DC)mud and do not let me sink;
May I be ^(DD)rescued from those who hate me, and from the ^(DE)depths of water.
¹⁵ May the ^[au](DF)flood of water not overflow me
Nor the deep swallow me up,
Nor the ^(DG)pit close its mouth on me.

¹⁶ Answer me, Lord, for ^(DH)Your mercy is good;
^(DI)According to the greatness of Your compassion, ^(DJ)turn to me,
¹⁷ And ^(DK)do not hide Your face from Your servant,
For I am ^(DL)in distress; answer me quickly.
¹⁸ Come near to my soul and ^(DM)redeem it;
^(DN)Ransom me because of my enemies!
¹⁹ You know my ^(DO)disgrace, my shame, and my dishonor;
All my enemies are ^[av]known to You.

²⁰ Disgrace has ^(DP)broken my heart, and I am so sick.
And ^(DQ)I waited for sympathy, but there was none;
And for ^(DR)comforters, but I found none.
²¹ They also gave me ^[aw](DS)a bitter herb in my food,
And for my thirst they ^(DT)gave me vinegar to drink.

²² May ^(DU)their table before them become a snare;
And ^[ax](DV)when they are at peace, may it become a trap.
²³ May their ^(DW)eyes grow dim so that they cannot see,
And make their ^(DX)hips shake continually.
^24 (DY)Pour out Your indignation on them,
And may Your burning anger overtake them.
²⁵ May their ^[ay](DZ)camp be desolated;
May there be none living in their tents.
²⁶ For they have ^(EA)persecuted him whom ^(EB)You Yourself struck,
And they tell of the pain of those whom ^(EC)You have ^[az]wounded.
²⁷ Add ^(ED)guilt to their guilt,
And ^(EE)may they not come into ^(EF)Your righteousness.
²⁸ May they be ^(EG)wiped out of the ^(EH)book of life,
And may they not be ^[ba](EI)recorded with the righteous.

²⁹ But I am ^(EJ)afflicted and in pain;
^[bb]May Your salvation, God, ^(EK)set me safely on high.
³⁰ I will ^(EL)praise the name of God with song,
And ^(EM)exalt Him with ^(EN)thanksgiving.
³¹ And it will ^(EO)please the Lord better than an ox
Or bull with horns and hoofs.
³² The ^(EP)humble ^[bc]have seen it and are glad;
You who seek God, ^(EQ)let your heart ^[bd]revive.
³³ For ^(ER)the Lord hears the needy,
And ^(ES)does not despise those of His who are prisoners.

^34 (ET)Heaven and earth shall praise Him,
The seas and ^(EU)everything that moves in them.
³⁵ For God will ^(EV)save Zion and ^(EW)build the cities of Judah,
So that they may live there and ^(EX)possess it.
³⁶ The ^[be](EY)descendants of His servants will inherit it,
And those who love His name ^(EZ)will live in it.

⁴ May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
And may those who love Your salvation say continually,
“May God be exalted!”
⁵ But ^(FD)I am afflicted and needy;
^(FE)Hurry to me, God!
You are my help and my savior;
Lord, do not delay.

⁷ I have become a ^(FS)marvel to many,
For You are ^(FT)my strong refuge.
⁸ My ^(FU)mouth is filled with Your praise
And with ^(FV)Your glory all day long.
⁹ Do not cast me away at the ^(FW)time of my old age;
Do not abandon me when my strength fails.
¹⁰ For my enemies have spoken ^[bl]against me;
And those who ^(FX)watch for my ^[bm]life ^(FY)have consulted together,
¹¹ Saying, “^(FZ)God has abandoned him;
Pursue and seize him, for there is ^(GA)no one to save him.”

¹² God, ^(GB)do not be far from me;
My God, ^(GC)hurry to my aid!
¹³ May those who are enemies of my soul be ^(GD)put to shame and consumed;
May they be ^(GE)covered with disgrace and dishonor, who ^(GF)seek ^[bn]to injure me.
¹⁴ But as for me, I will ^(GG)wait continually,
And will ^[bo](GH)praise You yet more and more.
¹⁵ My ^(GI)mouth shall tell of Your righteousness
And of ^(GJ)Your salvation all day long;
For I ^(GK)do not know the art of writing.
¹⁶ I will come ^(GL)with the mighty deeds of the Lord ^[bp]God;
I will ^(GM)make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone.

¹⁷ God, You ^(GN)have taught me from my youth,
And I still ^(GO)declare Your wondrous deeds.
¹⁸ And even when I am ^(GP)old and gray, God, do not abandon me,
Until I ^(GQ)declare Your ^[bq]strength to this generation,
Your power to all who are to come.
^19 [br]For Your ^(GR)righteousness, God, reaches to the ^[bs]heavens,
You who have ^(GS)done great things;
God, ^(GT)who is like You?
²⁰ You who have ^(GU)shown ^[bt]me many troubles and distresses
Will ^(GV)revive ^[bu]me again,
And will bring ^[bv]me up again ^(GW)from the depths of the earth.
²¹ May You increase my ^(GX)greatness
And turn to ^(GY)comfort me.

²² I will also praise You with ^[bw](GZ)a harp,
And Your ^[bx]truth, my God;
I will sing praises to You with the ^(HA)lyre,
^(HB)Holy One of Israel.
²³ My lips will ^(HC)shout for joy when I sing praises to You;
And my ^(HD)soul, which You have redeemed.
²⁴ My ^(HE)tongue also will tell of Your righteousness all day long;
For they are ^(HF)put to shame, for they are humiliated who seek ^[by]my harm.

^5 [cg]May they fear You ^(HM)while the sun shines,
And ^[ch]as long as the moon shines, throughout all generations.
^6 [ci]May he come down ^(HN)like rain upon the mown grass,
Like ^(HO)showers that water the earth.
^7 [cj]May the ^(HP)righteous flourish in his days,
As well as an ^(HQ)abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

⁸ May he also rule ^(HR)from sea to sea,
And from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.
^9 [ck]May ^(HS)the nomads of the desert ^(HT)bow before him,
And his enemies ^(HU)lick the dust.
^10 [cl]May the kings of ^(HV)Tarshish and of the ^[cm](HW)islands bring gifts;
May the kings of ^(HX)Sheba and ^(HY)Seba ^(HZ)offer tributes.
^11 [cn]And may all ^(IA)kings bow down before him,
All ^(IB)nations serve him.

¹² For he will ^(IC)save the needy when he cries for help,
The ^[co]afflicted also, and him who has no helper.
¹³ He will have ^(ID)compassion on the poor and needy,
And he will save the ^[cp]lives of the needy.
¹⁴ He will ^[cq](IE)rescue their ^[cr]life from oppression and violence,
And their blood will be ^(IF)precious in his sight;
¹⁵ So may he live, and may the ^(IG)gold of Sheba be given to him;
And ^[cs]they are to pray for him continually;
^[ct]They are to bless him all day long.

¹⁶ May there be abundance of grain on the earth on top of the mountains;
Its fruit will wave like the cedars of ^(IH)Lebanon;
And may those from the city flourish like the ^(II)vegetation of the earth.
¹⁷ May his ^(IJ)name endure forever;
May his name produce descendants ^[cu](IK)as long as the sun shines;
And may people ^(IL)wish blessings on themselves by him;
^(IM)May all nations call him blessed.

^18 (IN)Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
Who alone ^(IO)works wonders.
¹⁹ And blessed be His ^(IP)glorious name forever;
And may the whole ^(IQ)earth be filled with His glory.
^(IR)Amen and Amen.

²⁰ The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

¹⁰ Therefore ^[dc]his people return here,
And ^(JF)abundant waters are drunk by them.
¹¹ They say, “^(JG)How does God know?
And is there knowledge ^[dd]with the Most High?”
¹² Behold, ^(JH)these are the wicked;
And always ^(JI)at ease, they have increased in wealth.
¹³ Surely ^(JJ)in vain I have ^[de]kept my heart pure
And ^(JK)washed my hands in innocence;
¹⁴ For I have been stricken ^(JL)all day long,
And ^[df](JM)punished every morning.

¹⁵ If I had said, “I will speak this way,”
Behold, I would have betrayed the ^(JN)generation of Your children.
¹⁶ When I ^(JO)thought of understanding this,
It was ^[dg]troublesome in my sight
¹⁷ Until I entered the ^[dh](JP)sanctuary of God;
Then I perceived their ^(JQ)end.
¹⁸ You indeed put them on ^(JR)slippery ground;
You dropped them into ^[di](JS)ruin.
¹⁹ How they are ^[dj](JT)destroyed in a moment!
They are utterly swept away by ^(JU)sudden terrors!
²⁰ Like a ^(JV)dream when one awakes,
Lord, when ^(JW)stirred, You will ^(JX)despise their image.

²¹ When my ^(JY)heart was embittered
And I was ^(JZ)pierced ^[dk]within,
²² Then I was ^(KA)stupid and ignorant;
I was like an ^(KB)animal ^[dl]before You.
²³ Nevertheless ^(KC)I am continually with You;
You have taken hold of my right hand.
²⁴ You will ^(KD)guide me with Your plan,
And afterward ^(KE)receive me ^[dm]to glory.

^25 (KF)Whom do I have in heaven but You?
And with You, I desire nothing on earth.
²⁶ My ^(KG)flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the ^[dn]strength of my heart and my ^(KH)portion forever.
²⁷ For, behold, ^(KI)those who are far from You will ^(KJ)perish;
You have destroyed all those who ^[do](KK)are unfaithful to You.
²⁸ But as for me, ^(KL)the nearness of God is good for me;
I have made the Lord ^[dp]God my ^(KM)refuge,
So that I may ^(KN)tell of all Your works.

¹² Yet God is ^(LM)my King from long ago,
Who performs acts of salvation in the midst of the earth.
^13 [eb]You ^(LN)divided the sea by Your strength;
^[ec]You ^(LO)broke the heads of the ^(LP)sea monsters ^[ed]in the waters.
^14 [ee]You crushed the heads of ^[ef](LQ)Leviathan;
You gave him as food for the ^[eg]creatures ^(LR)of the wilderness.
^15 [eh]You ^(LS)broke open springs and torrents;
^[ei]You ^(LT)dried up ever-flowing streams.
¹⁶ Yours is the day, Yours also is the night;
^[ej]You have ^(LU)prepared the ^[ek]light and the sun.
^17 [el]You have ^(LV)established all the boundaries of the earth;
^[em]You have ^[en]created ^(LW)summer and winter.

¹⁸ Remember this, ^[eo]Lord, that the enemy has ^(LX)taunted You,
And a ^(LY)foolish people has treated Your name disrespectfully.
¹⁹ Do not give the soul of Your ^(LZ)turtledove to the wild animal;
^(MA)Do not forget the life of Your afflicted forever.
²⁰ Consider the ^(MB)covenant;
For the ^(MC)dark places of the land are full of the places of violence.
²¹ May the ^(MD)oppressed person not return dishonored;
May the ^(ME)afflicted and the needy praise Your name.

²² Arise, God, and ^(MF)plead Your own cause;
Remember ^[ep]how the ^(MG)foolish person taunts You all day long.
²³ Do not forget the voice of Your ^(MH)adversaries,
The ^(MI)uproar of those who rise against You, which ascends continually.

⁶ For not from the east, nor from the west,
Nor from the ^[et](MS)desert comes exaltation;
⁷ But ^(MT)God is the Judge;
He ^(MU)puts down one and exalts another.
⁸ For a ^(MV)cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams;
It is ^[eu](MW)well mixed, and He pours out of this;
Certainly all the wicked of the earth must drain and ^(MX)drink its dregs.

⁹ But as for me, I will ^(MY)declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
¹⁰ And ^[ev]He will cut off all the ^(MZ)horns of the wicked,
But ^(NA)the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.

⁴ You are resplendent,
^[ez]More majestic than the mountains of prey.
⁵ The ^(NH)stouthearted were plundered,
^[fa]They sank into sleep;
And none of the ^[fb]warriors could use his hands.
⁶ At Your ^(NI)rebuke, God of Jacob,
Both ^[fc](NJ)rider and horse were cast into a dead sleep.
⁷ You, You indeed are ^(NK)to be feared,
And ^(NL)who may stand in Your presence, ^[fd]once You are angry?

⁸ You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;
The earth ^(NM)feared and was still
⁹ When God ^(NN)arose to judgment,
To save all the humble of the earth. Selah
¹⁰ For the ^[fe](NO)wrath of mankind shall praise You;
You will encircle Yourself with a remnant of wrath.

^11 (NP)Make vows to the Lord your God and ^(NQ)fulfill them;
All who are around Him are to ^(NR)bring gifts to Him who is to be feared.
¹² He will cut off the spirit of princes;
He is ^[ff](NS)feared by the kings of the earth.

⁷ Will the Lord ^(OF)reject forever?
And will He ^(OG)never be favorable again?
⁸ Has His ^(OH)favor ceased forever?
Has His ^[fi](OI)promise come to an end ^[fj]forever?
⁹ Has God ^(OJ)forgotten to be gracious,
Or has He in anger ^[fk]withdrawn His ^(OK)compassion? Selah
¹⁰ Then I said, “^(OL)It is my ^[fl]grief,
That the ^(OM)right hand of the Most High has changed.”

¹¹ I shall remember the ^(ON)deeds of ^[fm]the Lord;
I will certainly ^(OO)remember Your wonders of old.
¹² I will ^(OP)meditate on all Your work,
And on Your deeds with thanksgiving.
¹³ Your way, God, is ^(OQ)holy;
^(OR)What god is great like our God?
¹⁴ You are the ^(OS)God who works wonders;
You have ^(OT)made known Your strength among the peoples.
¹⁵ By Your ^[fn]power You have ^(OU)redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and ^(OV)Joseph. Selah

¹⁶ The ^(OW)waters saw You, God;
The waters saw You, they were in anguish;
The ocean depths also trembled.
¹⁷ The ^(OX)clouds poured out water;
The skies ^[fo](OY)sounded out;
Your ^(OZ)arrows ^[fp]flashed here and there.
¹⁸ The ^(PA)sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
The ^(PB)lightning lit up the world;
The ^(PC)earth trembled and shook.
¹⁹ Your ^(PD)way was in the sea
And Your paths in the mighty waters,
And Your footprints were not known.
²⁰ You ^(PE)led Your people like a flock
By the hand of ^(PF)Moses and Aaron.

⁵ For He established a ^(PO)testimony in Jacob,
And appointed a ^(PP)law in Israel,
Which He ^(PQ)commanded our fathers
That they were to ^[fs](PR)teach them to their children,
^6 (PS)So that the generation to come would know, ^(PT)the children yet to be born,
That they would arise and ^(PU)tell them to their children,
⁷ So that they would put their confidence in God
And ^(PV)not forget the works of God,
But ^(PW)comply with His commandments,
⁸ And ^(PX)not be like their fathers,
A ^(PY)stubborn and rebellious generation,
A generation that ^(PZ)did not ^[ft]prepare its heart
And whose spirit was not ^(QA)faithful to God.

⁹ The sons of Ephraim ^[fu]were ^(QB)archers equipped with bows,
Yet ^(QC)they turned back on the day of battle.
¹⁰ They ^(QD)did not keep the covenant of God
And refused to ^(QE)walk in His Law;
¹¹ They ^(QF)forgot His deeds
And His ^[fv]miracles that He had shown them.
^12 (QG)He performed wonders before their fathers
In the land of Egypt, in the ^(QH)field of Zoan.
¹³ He ^(QI)divided the sea and caused them to pass through,
And He made the waters stand ^(QJ)up like a heap.
¹⁴ Then He led them with the cloud by ^(QK)day
And all the night with a ^(QL)light of fire.
¹⁵ He ^(QM)split the rocks in the wilderness
And gave them plenty to drink like the ocean depths.
¹⁶ He ^(QN)brought forth streams from the rock
And made waters run down like rivers.

¹⁷ Yet they still continued to sin against Him,
To ^(QO)rebel against the Most High in the desert.
¹⁸ And in their heart they ^(QP)put God to the test
By asking for ^(QQ)food ^[fw]that suited their taste.
¹⁹ Then they spoke against God;
They said, “^(QR)Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
²⁰ Behold, He ^(QS)struck the rock so that waters gushed out,
And streams were overflowing;
Can He also provide bread?
Will He prepare ^(QT)meat for His people?”

²¹ Therefore the Lord heard and ^[fx]was ^(QU)full of wrath;
And a fire was kindled against Jacob,
And anger also mounted against Israel,
²² Because they ^(QV)did not believe in God
And did not trust in His salvation.
²³ Yet He commanded the clouds above
And ^(QW)opened the doors of heaven;
²⁴ He ^(QX)rained down manna upon them to eat,
And gave them ^[fy](QY)food from heaven.
²⁵ Man ate the bread of ^[fz]angels;
He sent them ^[ga]food ^[gb](QZ)in abundance.
²⁶ He ^(RA)made the east wind blow in the sky
And by His ^[gc]power He directed the south wind.
²⁷ When He rained meat upon them like the dust,
Even ^(RB)winged fowl like the sand of the seas,
²⁸ He let them fall in the midst of ^[gd]their camp,
All around their dwellings.
²⁹ So they ^(RC)ate and were well filled,
And He ^[ge]satisfied their longing.
^30 [gf]Yet before they had abandoned their longing,
^(RD)While their food was in their mouths,
³¹ The ^(RE)anger of God rose against them
And killed ^[gg]some of their ^(RF)strongest ones,
And ^[gh]subdued the choice men of Israel.
³² In spite of all this they ^(RG)still sinned
And ^(RH)did not believe in His wonderful works.
³³ So He brought ^(RI)their days to an end in futility,
And their years to an end in sudden terror.

³⁴ When He killed them, then they ^(RJ)sought Him,
And they returned and searched ^(RK)diligently for God;
³⁵ And they remembered that God was their ^(RL)rock,
And the Most High God their ^(RM)Redeemer.
³⁶ But they ^(RN)flattered Him with their mouth
And ^(RO)lied to Him with their tongue.
³⁷ For their heart was not ^(RP)steadfast toward Him,
Nor were they faithful with His covenant.
³⁸ But He, being ^(RQ)compassionate, ^[gi](RR)forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them;
And often He ^[gj](RS)restrained His anger
And did not stir up all His wrath.
³⁹ So ^(RT)He remembered that they were only ^(RU)flesh,
A ^[gk](RV)wind that passes and does not return.

⁴⁰ How often they ^(RW)rebelled against Him in the wilderness
And ^(RX)grieved Him in the ^(RY)desert!
⁴¹ Again and again they ^[gl](RZ)tempted God,
And pained the ^(SA)Holy One of Israel.
⁴² They ^(SB)did not remember ^(SC)His ^[gm]power,
The day when He ^(SD)redeemed them from the enemy,
⁴³ When He performed His ^(SE)signs in Egypt
And His ^(SF)marvels in the field of Zoan,
⁴⁴ And ^(SG)turned their rivers to blood,
And their streams, so that they could not drink.
⁴⁵ He sent swarms of ^(SH)flies among them that devoured them,
And ^(SI)frogs that destroyed them.
⁴⁶ He also gave their crops to the ^(SJ)grasshopper
And the product of their labor to the ^(SK)locust.
⁴⁷ He ^[gn]destroyed their vines with ^(SL)hailstones
And their sycamore trees with frost.
⁴⁸ He also turned their ^(SM)cattle over to the hailstones,
And their herds to bolts of lightning.
⁴⁹ He ^(SN)sent His burning anger upon them,
Fury and indignation and trouble,
A band of ^[go]destroying angels.
⁵⁰ He leveled a path for His anger;
He did not spare their souls from death,
But ^(SO)turned their lives over to the plague,
⁵¹ And ^(SP)struck all the firstborn in Egypt,
The ^(SQ)first and best of their vigor in the tents of ^(SR)Ham.
⁵² But He ^(SS)led His own people out like sheep,
And guided them in the wilderness ^(ST)like a flock;
⁵³ He led them ^(SU)safely, so that they did not fear;
But ^(SV)the sea engulfed their enemies.

⁵⁴ So ^(SW)He brought them to His holy ^[gp]land,
To this ^[gq](SX)hill country ^(SY)which His right hand had gained.
⁵⁵ He also ^(SZ)drove out the nations from them
And ^(TA)apportioned them as an inheritance by measurement,
And had the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.
⁵⁶ Yet they ^[gr](TB)tempted and ^(TC)rebelled against the Most High God
And did not keep His testimonies,
⁵⁷ But turned back and ^(TD)acted treacherously like their fathers;
They ^(TE)turned aside like a treacherous bow.
⁵⁸ For they ^(TF)provoked Him with their ^(TG)high places
And ^(TH)moved Him to jealousy with their ^(TI)carved images.
⁵⁹ When God heard them, He ^[gs]was filled with ^(TJ)wrath
And He utterly ^(TK)rejected Israel;
⁶⁰ So that He ^(TL)abandoned the ^(TM)dwelling place at Shiloh,
The tent ^[gt]which He had pitched among people,
⁶¹ And He gave up His ^(TN)strength to captivity
And His glory ^(TO)into the hand of the enemy.
⁶² He also ^(TP)turned His people over to the sword,
And ^[gu]was filled with wrath at His inheritance.
^63 (TQ)Fire devoured ^[gv]His young men,
And ^[gw]His ^(TR)virgins had no wedding songs.
^64 [gx]His ^(TS)priests fell by the sword,
And ^[gy]His ^(TT)widows could not weep.

⁶⁵ Then the Lord ^(TU)awoke as if from sleep,
Like a ^(TV)warrior ^[gz]overcome by wine.
⁶⁶ He ^[ha](TW)drove His adversaries backward;
He put on them an everlasting disgrace.
⁶⁷ He also ^(TX)rejected the tent of Joseph,
And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount ^(TY)Zion, which He loved.
⁶⁹ And He ^(TZ)built His sanctuary like the heights,
Like the earth which He has established forever.
⁷⁰ He also ^(UA)chose His servant David
And took him from the sheepfolds;
⁷¹ From ^[hb](UB)the care of the ^[hc]ewes ^(UC)with nursing lambs He brought him
To ^(UD)shepherd Jacob His people,
And Israel ^(UE)His inheritance.
⁷² So he shepherded them according to the ^(UF)integrity of his heart,
And guided them with his skillful hands.
