Proverbs 6:13-23

New American Standard Bible

¹³ Who ^(A)winks with his eyes, who ^[a]signals with his feet,
Who ^[b]points with his fingers;
¹⁴ Who, with ^(B)perversion in his heart, continually ^(C)devises evil,
Who ^[c](D)spreads strife.
¹⁵ Therefore ^(E)his disaster will come suddenly;
^(F)Instantly he will be broken and there will be ^(G)no healing.

¹⁶ There are six things that the Lord hates,
Seven that are an abomination ^[d]to Him:
^17 (H)Haughty eyes, a ^(I)lying tongue,
And hands that ^(J)shed innocent blood,
¹⁸ A heart that devises ^(K)wicked plans,
^(L)Feet that run rapidly to evil,
¹⁹ A ^(M)false witness who declares lies,
And one who ^[e](N)spreads strife among brothers.

^20 (O)My son, comply with the commandment of your father,
And do not ignore the ^[f]teaching of your mother;
^21 (P)Bind them continually on your heart;
Tie them around your neck.
²² When you ^(Q)walk, ^[g]they will guide you;
When you sleep, ^[h]they will watch over you;
And when you awake, ^[i]they will talk to you.
²³ For ^(R)the commandment is a lamp and the ^[j]teaching is light;
And rebukes for discipline are the way of life
