Isaiah 6:9-13
New American Standard Bible 1995
9 He said, “Go, and tell this people:
‘Keep on (A)listening, but do not perceive;
Keep on looking, but do not understand.’
10 “(B)Render the hearts of this people [a](C)insensitive,
Their ears [b]dull,
And their eyes [c]dim,
(D)Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
Understand with their hearts,
And return and be healed.”
11 Then I said, “Lord, (E)how long?” And He answered,
“Until (F)cities are devastated and without inhabitant,
Houses are without people
And the land is utterly desolate,
12 “The Lord has (G)removed men far away,
And the [d](H)forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.
13 “Yet there will be a tenth portion in it,
And it will again be subject to burning,
Like a terebinth or an (I)oak
Whose stump remains when it is felled.
The (J)holy seed is its stump.”

13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while (A)seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 [a]In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,
‘[b](B)You will keep on hearing, [c]but will not understand;
[d]You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;

39 And Jesus said, “(A)For judgment I came into this world, so that (B)those who do not see may see, and that (C)those who see may become blind.” 40 Those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things and said to Him, “(D)We are not blind too, are we?” 41 Jesus said to them, “(E)If you were blind, you would have no sin; but [a]since you say, ‘(F)We see,’ your sin remains.

26 saying,
‘(A)Go to this people and say,
“[a](B)You will keep on hearing, [b]but will not understand;
And [c]you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
27 (C)For the heart of this people has become dull,

Otherwise they might see with their eyes,

And I would heal them.”’
28 Therefore let it be known to you that (D)this salvation of God has been sent (E)to the Gentiles; they will also listen.” 29 [[d]When he had spoken these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.]
